Prince of Mirkwood

Time for another update.

And so, I have finished my entry for the paint challenge for the One-Ring site. Being away from home posed a problem with taking pictures but i made do with what I had.
I also forgot to bring my dirt along with me on the trip so the foot model has to go without a finished base till I return.

I tried to come up with a symbol for the freehand on the horse cloth thing by looking through the Free Peoples book but the only symbol I saw that would either fit the Mirkwood theme or that small space was Thranduil's spearhead with the leaf and gem. I tried to mimic that but my freehand skills are very poor quality. I couldn't even do the same design on the opposite side of the sheet!

So enough of my rambling, here is Legolas, Prince of Mirkwood.

Really liked this model. Both in sculpting and painting. I was glad my friend let me paint it up the foot model for him as it turned out much better than my first few attempts at painting Legolas. Might redo my old one since I like the colour scheme I used. I'll get photos ASAP.
Hope you enjoyed!

Till next time. :D

Never Forget, Never Forgive...

Hello to all who read this blog and to those who are just passing by.

I have finally taken pictures of my Dark Angels army and so… Here is an update!

To start off, the leader of the Dark Angels:

Azrael, Supreme Grand Master

Image

He still needs to be finished but that’s Azrael and his Helm Bearer.

Next we have my very first tactical squad of space marines that I bought and painted. I need to repaint some of them as I was experimenting on the highlighting and colours before I finally found a scheme that worked and looked good without having to mix paint.

Scheme: (using old colours here) Dark Angels Green basecoat over Chaos Black, highlight with drybrushed Camo Green. Need to repaint the red as all I had for red paint was an old paint pot from the very first Moria Goblin paint set. It’s served me for over 3 years so it’s about time I got new paints. (Bought Khorne and Wazdakka Red.) Metal is highlighted Chainmail.

Next we have the Interrogator-Chaplain and a squad of Deathwing Terminators.

Dreadnought with Multi-Melta and Stormbolter

Devastator Squad and Veteran Sergeant

Company Master (or DA equivalent. Can't remember right now. )

Another Tactical Squad

And now an army shot. Not very good but it’ll do for now.

Now we go to other factions.

The Eldar (unfinished):

Grey Knights:

Purifyer Squad (I think :? )

Paladin Standard Bearer

And that’s it for now in the 40K world.

Comments and criticism welcome as always. :D

Khandish Chieftain

 Hello again to all.

And here is the finished Khandish Chieftain. Base and all:

The pictures make the horse look brown when it's supposed to be a darkish grey. I'll figure out what went wrong with lighting or the camera.
The back part of the base is supposed to be burning wood, (or rather burnt wood with fire embers still glowing) with burnt grass around it. The other side is the original grass un-burnt. What do you guys think? Does it look like burning wood?
Hope you guys like it. Thanks again for the kind remarks. :)

Let There be Light!

Well, it's been nearly a month since my last update.
With graduation coming in the next few days, my life has been very busy.
I've done quite a bit of work from painting models to adding more to Helm's Deep.

To start off, why don't I show you my work for the May Painting Challenge.
It's not a Hasharin but it fits the requirements.
Here is my Khandish Chieftain.

I've recently invested, (or rather followed someone's idea) and made a light "box" to take pictures of models.
It's a milk jug cut to have an opening on the top with a white sheet of paper in it. It really makes a difference.
A few examples:

And finally:

And so...
Here are some models I've worked on, or finished, or just wanted to take pictures because I could. ;)

Well that's it for the model side of things. For now anyway. ;)

I have a lot more pictures of other models and Helm's Deep, but I'll put those on later after my doctors appointment.
I also need some static grass for my Khandish Chieftain.
So, till next time!
